Malvern kayaker Emma Witherford travels to Germany ahead of the upcoming European Freestyle Kayaking Championship this June.

Local freestyle kayaker Witherford starts a month long European tour consisting of three events, with the opener in Plattling, Germany, this June.

The highly anticipated competition is at a world class venue renowned for hosting significant international events and forms part of the European Championships.

Speaking ahead of the tournament Witherford says “I’m really looking forward to the challenge. This is one of the best competitions in Europe and with that comes tough opposition. I’m keen to build up my experience after becoming a senior and I’m really looking forward to the event.”

Witherford is now competing in her second year as a reserve member for the Senior Women’s GB Team.

Following Plattling, Witherford travels on to France for the second stage of the championships, then finally culminating in the first European cup of 2017, the Natural Games, held in Millau, France.

Witherford’s European tour is being supported by Hills Ford who are supplying Emma with a new Tourneo Connect for the month, from their Ford dealership based in Malvern.

“It’s a real privilege to continue supporting Emma as she continues into the senior team.” Said Managing Director Richard Hill. “Emma has gone from strength to strength over the last few years, resulting in her current position on the GB Team, she is a fantastic role model for her sport and it just goes to show where determination and hard work can get you.”
